Cars Fanatic Part 2

as i said in my previous entry, cayden is gaga over cars. we went to toys r us earlier and he was on a high with all the cars paraphernalia around him. his eyes were all over the place, didnt know where to go first, didnt know what to touch first! even the smallest, farthest cars gadget he could see, he saw with eagle eyes!

i asked tantan if he's scared (me, thinking about cayden and all the stuff he can ask us to buy). tantan said no. i asked why not. he said, "YOU left your wallet at home". lol! true, he can still distract cayden but not me. but lucky him, i left my wallet because we were in a hurry to go out and i thought it was already in my bag!

anyways, here's cayden enjoying his cars experience:
got sidetracked because he saw handy manny's tools (they were bobbing in the box!)
take note of the books he's holding - CARS!
didnt want to leave but tantan "tricked" him

we didnt buy the car because he already has a little tikes coupe car at home and we didnt have space anymore. but he didnt exactly leave empty handed.
couldnt wait! had to open the box in the car =D
he cant have the whole car, but he can at least have the steering wheel! lol!

Cars Fanatic

sorry about the mess. it gets cleaned up in the morning =D

we've watched Cars countless of times but when cayden watches, it's like he's watching it for the first time. he reacts as if he's super affected by the events =D. Cars 2 is already being shown. i'd like to take cayden but he's too loud and animated, im scared we'll be kicked out of the cinema! but we'll see....

Dinner Spinner

tantan excitedly showed me this app on his phone, allrecipes.com's dinner spinner. i was instantly impressed, especially since i dont have the patience to cook. i hate menu planning, that's why i leave the cooking to my mom, when she's here. but since she's not (at the moment), this app will be very useful to me. tantan's phone is windows based so i immediately searched my "market" (crossing my fingers and hoping) to see if this app is available to androids. and it is!

this is how it works:

first, you need to choose what type of dish you want to prepare: main dish, appetiser, snacks, breakfast, etc. then you choose what your main ingredients is: pork, beef, veggies, etc. lastly, you choose how much lead time you have (of course, i would choose 20mins or less! im a busy mom!! =D)

for this sample, i chose main dish, beef and prep time of 20mins or less

gives you lots of recipes to choose from
nutritional information and user reviews

how convenient is this?!

Happy Feet

this one, i didnt have to think twice about buying. it was on sale ok =D. and we love "sale", dont we?
US size 7 but UK size 4
dont you just love short cuts? - i mean, from  a real workout =D
last 2 images fr amazon
i already have the shape ups (not an mbt like tantan's ~ he teases me about it everytime! ~ but hey, they do the same thing =D) and i said to myself, as soon as i find the sandals on sale, i'll buy them. my shape ups work as i can feel the burn after wearing them for a while but for sandals, i wouldnt buy them at full price. that's because i will only be able to wear them for a few days a year as england is all about rain and the cold weather =D. let's see if these will work too!

but these, i had to think a million times over!
stitchouts
i heard really good things about toms. but they are not exactly cheap. and having 2 sons (with the youngest getting more mobile by the minute), comfort is the order of the day. i dont want to be running after them in some feet crushing shoes! i convinced myself that this is a really good investment (ok, it's not an investment but you get my point =D). besides, i get to help a kid somewhere.

i initially planned on ordering from their US site and have them delivered to my mom (who is currently in NJ) but when i compared the price to their UK site, the difference isnt much so i decided to order from here. unfortunately, when i switched sites, the US delivery address i put in stuck. so my credit card got blocked as the system flagged it down for questionable activity (not usually a problem if i was ordering from a US site for a US delivery). i thought maybe it was a sign i shouldnt buy the shoes =D. but i really want them! i've never liked shoes this bad before, i tell yah! i phoned my bank the next day and they immediately lifted the block, ordered and voila! good thing i read the reviews though and ordered half a size bigger. they fit perfectly!

if only it will stop raining so i can wear them already! i dont want them ruined the first time i wear them!

Water Margin

as a belated birthday treat, we had chinese buffet for lunch. it was raining but we didnt worry because of our gigantic umbrella! the WHOLE family fits! lol!

62" windproof umbrella
i was craving for some crispy aromatic duck so i suggested we go to this chinese resto that we havent been to. it was buffet but you have to order from the menu. there were lots to choose from! they were kinda strict though with how the food is served. starter kung starter, then the main course (some resto will ask you if you want everything served at once). buti na lang the aromatic duck is intermediate, meaning you can order it whenever. i chose to have it as starter.

i had these all to my self! the whole aromatic crispy duck platter!
i'd rate the food 7 out of 10. they can improve on the taste a little bit (i want my food a bit salty). but everything's freshly served then meron pang heater on the table. tantan teased me that i ordered and ate more than him so it's fair to say i enjoyed the food! i had the aromatic crispy duck platter, yang chow rice, chicken with onions and pineapples, beef with mushroom and bean sprouts, squid in spicy chili sauce, king prawn in schezuan sauce. it's not that much! lol

one thing we didnt like, they didnt have any high chairs. cayden was generally behaved but towards the end, he was leaving his seat. he stayed within our area though but he was reaching for this and that.

we were stuffed, we only had green peas and corn for dinner! ok fine, i had 3 croissants and a mug of cold milk for midnight snack =D

Roll Over, Kian

i said to myself, "it would really be nice if kian will finally be able to roll over on my birthday". and he did!

kian can turn to his side for a while now but didnt really show any sign of even attempting to roll over until a few days ago. we'd find him doing this:

and then the morning of my birthday, i left him on the floor to do something in the kitchen. and when i came back, he was already on his tummy!!! it was an amazing feeling, seeing your child achieve another milestone in his young life =D. i shouted and it startled him so he turned over his back quickly.

i was trying to record this fete but he wouldnt let me! this is the closest to rolling over that i can record. i had to stop myself from helping him finish the deed! i didnt ok, coz that would be cheating! lol

well done, baby!! it was the best birthday gift ever! oh no, that means we can't leave you just anywhere anymore!

QTbelle

not another blog?! oh yes!

i wanted to do a 365 project for the longest time but didnt know where to begin or how to do it or if i'll have the time to post or if i'll even have something to share EVERY SINGLE DAY. but i think im up for the challenge. it will be more pictures (or videos) and less text - if i can help it, that is. i just noticed that my first entry has a really long description =D. but bear with me.

join me as i face life as a mom, wife, daughter, shopper, expat .... basically, everything that's written on my profile on the side bar ("WHO? ME?!") of this blog =D. yes, im all that and more!

Hop Hop Hop!

when we went to the eden project in cornwall back in april, we had so much fun with these hoppers:

tantan and i said if we find something small enough for the kids to play with, we'd buy it. so when we found this hopper while grocery shopping, we bought it immediately, thinking it's what we're looking for. the box is really small, that's why =D. unfortunately, it's not small enough. cayden cant get on it by himself. if he wants to ride it, he would bring it near kian's crib, hold the hopper in place while he uses the side railings of the crib to get on top of the hopper. then he will bounce while holding on to the crib. how smart! no one told him to do it that way.

for now, the hopper's used as a ball to kick around with (most of the time) =D

5M

9 july 2011
it was a pretty big day for kian. aside from celebrating his 5th month birthday, he also had his first taste of solid food. yey! he watches us longingly when we eat and sometimes, he would reach over and grab our plate (well, he grabs mostly anything... =D) - we knew he's ready. his kuya started at 5months too!

tantan planned to feed him that morning. only, there wasnt any breastmilk available to prepare kian's food, which is baby rice by the way =D. i was still upstairs, in bed, having my well-deserved lie-in (it's a saturday!!). besides, he was planning to feed kian without me???!!! good thing i am THE milk source!

kian's reaction? he loved it! it didnt seem like it was his first time. he was like a pro already! only thing was, the kuya got kinda jealous with the attention kian was getting. and he thought that kian's getting a treat and him, not. but when we offered kian's food, he didnt like it lol!

That's just breastmilk
d ba, me dila pa! lol =D
happy baby!
anyways, the way this little kiddo eats, better brace ourselves for really nasty smelling poops! =D

happy 5th month birthday, darling!

Cayden's Scooter

remember this?

he saw it on tv (disney junior's jake and the neverland pirates) and immediately picked up on it. because of this, tantan said he'll look for a scooter although he was a bit apprehensive (kaya na nya ba talga? - hello! nagimprovise pa nga d ba?! =D). tantan was looking for a particular type of scooter, one with 2 wheels in front for better balance (usually tig isa lang, front and back or one in front, 2 at the back).

we went grocery shopping yesterday and saw this scooter on sale. it's for 2+ kids so age appropriate for cayden AND it's got 4 wheels (2 each, front and back). what makes it even better is, as the kid grows up or as he gain more confidence, you can reduce the number of wheels - 3 or 2. it's even made of bakal so it's sturdy. and again, it was on sale!

the daddy immediately assembled it when we got home. cayden tried to help lol. when it's all done, cayden immediately got on and used it! without us teaching him! the daddy was even preparing for this big "father-son moment" but the son clearly didnt need any help! lol. tantan joked, next time, he'll ask permission na to go out and hang out with friends. yes, he's growing up fast =(

he's got a helmet, elbow and knee pads for when he goes out =D
